Firstly, the flavor of the diet should be bland and light.
Some nutritionist suggest that, in summer, it is better for children to eat bland, easily digestible and less greasy food. Summer is the best season for fruits and vegetables such as cucumber, tomato, lettuce, lentils, which are rich in Vitamin C, carotene and mineral salt. These vegetables can be made as cold dishes with some garlic, which can help prevent enteric infection. You can also add in a little vinegar, so as to increase the appetite. Provide your children with more watermelon juice and fresh fruit juice, but it’s inadvisable to drink a lot of water or cold beverage before eating.

Secondly, it is better to prepare meals in advance, but cold dishes are not recommended.
During the summer vacation, many parents will make lunch for the children in advance, and children just need to heat the food in the microwave at noon. However, there’s something parents should pay attention to when they prepare food for children. The reserved lunch should be made in the morning, and it should be kept fresh in the refrigerator. It’s better not to prepare cold dishes. Remind the children to put cold water or food at normal temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before they eat. Especially when they feel extremely hot, they should not eat something too cold right away.

Thirdly, do not eat too much Western fast food.
Most children prefer Western fast food, but experts suggest that children should eat it appropriately, rather than make it as part of their daily diet or eat it every day. Because the fast food doesn’t have balanced and enough nutrition, so it is not conducive to the growth and development of children. Experts suggest that the diet should be diversified, with enough fruits and vegetables, beans, grains, eggs and milk, meat and other foods in daily meals, so as to maintain nutritional balance. Experts also strongly remind parents not to regard Western fast food as an award for the achievement of children, in case the children will have a thirst for Western fast food.

Fourthly, do not take in too much cold drinks or ice cream.
In the hot summer days, many children are greedy for cold drink. Experts advise children to take in less cold drink or ice cream. Too much high-sugar cold drinks will produce high concentration of glucose, which can affect the normal diet.

Relevant experts also point out that snacks are OK, but only with a moderate amount. And they should not replace the normal meals. Eating a lot of snacks before meal will reduce the appetite in the normal meal. Therefore, parents should not store too much snacks for children at home.
