Nowadays, more and more kinds of detergents have been produced to people to make use of. However, all these kinds of detergents are made of chemical substances. The long-term use of the detergents can worsen the human skin and cause the symptoms of allergy. Therefore, it is necessary for people to seek the environmental-friendly detergents with the natural substances as raw materials so as to decrease the harms to the human body and protect the environment. Generally speaking, the natural detergents mainly include salt, vinegar, baking soda, egg, tea leaves, towel, banana peel, lemon and sour milk.

According to the research, salt has a high adsorptive power. If fruit juice or tea water scatter on the clothes or the carpet, people can use salt to absorb them. In addition, light salt brine can prevent the color fading of the clothes and strong salt brine can effectively prevent the corrosion of wood furniture so as to extend the service life of the furniture.

The ethylic acid contained in vinegar plays an important role in dissolving greasy dirt, killing the bacteria and removing the peculiar smells. The mixture of vinegar and water can be used to clean glass, mirror and ceramic tiles. The objects can be cleaned effectively to regain gloss.

The sodium bicarbonate contained in baking soda is a kind of edible alkali. It can effectively remove the dirt from furniture, water faucets, and hearth and so on. The mixture of 60 grams of baking soda and 500 milligrams of water can be made use of as detergent. At the same time, the human skin will not be hurt.

The various kinds of protein and fat contained in the egg white can enter the leather to dissolve the greasy dirt and protect the leather at the same time. If leather bags and leather sofa are polluted by dirt, people can wipe the surface of the leather by a piece of clean towel with egg white, which can not only remove the dirt, but also regain the brilliance for the leather.

Tea leaves contain various kinds of substances like tea polyphenol and theophylline which can remove the peculiar smells. Therefore, tea leaves can be used as the air freshener. People can add 150 grams of red tea into the hot water to eliminate strange smells from the room.

Except the things mentioned above, banana peel, lemon and sour milk can also be used as detergents to eliminate dirt and strange smells. For example, the lactic acid contained in sour milk can effectively remove the dirt and clean the things successfully.
